It is hard to go through Nevada and not run into the Lincoln Highway. US-50 from Fernley to Ely is the longest single section, before it forks through Reno and Carson City. The bottom pic of the closed bar is actually on US-93. Back in the day, US-50 veered north from Ely and went to Wendover instead of heading east with US-6 as it does now. So, the bar was actually on US-50 at one time.
This bar was built in a place called Smelterville. This town was built to intice workers at the smelter and mines to live there, selling them houses and making a profit. This land development failed, as so many did 100 years ago. There's just a few buildings left of Smelterville.
